Alexander Misharin


Alexander Misharin was born in 1959 and in 1981 graduated from the Urals Electromechanical Institute of Railway Engineers, where he majored in "The Electrification of Railway Transport". In 1997, he received his second (economic) degree at the Ural State Academy of Railway Transport. He has a PhD in economics and a Doctorate in Technical Sciences.

He has risen from an electrician responsible for supplying power to the railway line to Chief Engineer at Sverdlovsk Railways. He then worked as Deputy and First Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Communications, Head of Sverdlovsk Railways, Director of the Department for Integrated Infrastructure Development at Russia’s Ministry of Transport, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transport and Director of the Department of Industry and Infrastructure in the Administration of the Government of the Russian Federation.

From 2009 to 2012 —  Governor, Sverdlovsk Region.

From 2012 — First Vice-President, Russian Railways.

From 2013 —  CEO of JSC "High-Speed Rail Lines"
