MIIT to develop track standards for Moscow-Kazan HSR

Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT) is going to develop a special state standard (GOST) for high-speed tracks, in particular for Moscow-Kazan HSR, informed a transport sector source. “MIIT has won a tender for the development of a protective coating GOST to be used on Russian high-speed railways. The works cost RUB1 mn”, reports Moskva News Agency by citing the source. Gennady Talashkin, President of the Union of Railway Constructors, told earlier that in 2014 special engineering standards for Moscow-Kazan HSR were approved which are temporary and only cover the Moscow-Kazan HSR project. Russian Railways plans to build over 11,000 km of speed lines by 2030, and, therefore, standards, technical regulations, rules, etc. will be required, specified Mr. Talashkin. In May, Russian Railways contracted with a design consortium led by Mosgiprotrans, with Nizhegorodmetproekt and China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd. participating, for design of and surveys on the Moscow-Kazan line, a section of Moscow-Kazan-Yekaterinburg HSR. The first phase of HSR will be about 770 km with an operating speed up to 400 km/h. Travel time from Moscow to Kazan will be 3.5 hours:
